The post holder will work as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team based within the new Danesgate REACH Hub, providing professional outreach, liaison, and advisory services to mainstream schools and short-stay PRU teams within Danesgate. The primary aim of this role is to promote a positive, inclusive, and solution-oriented environment across pupil’s mainstream educational setting, ensuring the social, emotional, and behavioural well-being of pupils can flourish. This will be primarily at primary but will also include support at KS3 secondary.
Operating as part of a dedicated team of three staff members under the direction of the REACH Hub Manager, the post holder will provide high-quality guidance, support, and strategic advice to classroom teachers and middle leaders who are working with challenging, disruptive, or difficult pupils in mainstream settings. The role focuses on delivering practical ideas, modelling effective intervention frameworks (including de-escalation techniques and unconditional positive regard practices), conducting pupil observations, and working collaboratively with teaching colleagues, families, and LA partners to minimise learning barriers and reduce the risk of suspensions for pupils they work with.

Working under the guidance and supervision of the REACH Hub Inclusion & Outreach Officer and the Hub Manager, the post holder will use their own initiative to implement and deliver targeted intervention programmes for identified pupils exhibiting complex, challenging, or disruptive behaviours. The role focuses on working directly with individual pupils, small groups, and mainstream teaching colleagues to deliver practical de-escalation strategies and unconditional positive regard practices, minimizing learning barriers and reducing the risk of school suspensions.

The Danesgate Community is a specialist setting for 5-16 year olds with social, emotional and mental health needs. The REACH element of our offer will come under the umbrella of Danesgate Community but you will be tasked with developing and leading a hub which offers dynamism, vibrancy and a proactive attitude. We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated Outreach manager who will be able to work under pressure, use their own initiative and create an environment of professional curiosity and creative solutions
The successful candidate will work under the Assistant Headteacher for Primary and Headteacher, alongside key staff to provide an Outreach offer that is suitable for the city. This will include working with SENCOs, headteachers, trust managers etc. The successful candidate must have experience managing staff, an understanding of SEN and up to date knowledge about interventions and support packages available to schools. This is an exciting and challenging position, which would start as soon as possible.

We are seeking to recruit teaching assistant’s to work in our Primary and Secondary classes who have worked with children who have SEMH and SEN. Danesgate is a very welcoming and vibrant place to work and offers significant opportunities for professional development for anyone who is committed to working with vulnerable young people. We would be glad to hear from applicants who have previously worked as a teaching assistant or who have a similar background working with children who have SEMH and SEN.
