Music

Music at Danesgate is provided in different ways including:

Primary Music Lessons

These are Timetabled lessons provided by expert Music teachers.

Noise Academy

Who provide us with 1 day a week of lessons for the whole school.

Their mission at Danesgate is to promote access to music technology through our innovative programmes, providing pathways and inspiration for young people to pursue interests and careers in the music industry.

In addition to inspiring, motivating, and stretching pupils, Noise Academy will also expand musical experiences, and assist young people to engage further in the world of music. Our sessions will be a complement to other learning in order to help students communicate and collaborate with one another. By providing early exposure to industry standard equipment and processes, the weekly lessons will provide long-term benefits to those who are living in challenging circumstances and will provide assistance to those who are transitioning to the creative industries.

In today’s society, students expect their music lessons to be in harmony with the music they listen to, and teachers want their students to be interested and enthusiastic about their lessons. Noise Academy will provide resources and create a whole new excitement and ambition. The Music room in school will provide amazing opportunities to introduce electronic music to students via music technology, transforming lessons into a unique learning experience.

The sessions will additionally provide students with tools that will enable them to reintegrate in other aspects of their lives on a social and emotional level. In addition to providing a sense of accomplishment, the programme will equip them with the skills, knowledge and introductions necessary to progress further within the arts industry.

We want to learn how best we can teach and support young people to turn their passion into a career by providing a holistic package of support through education in music and technology, mentoring and business guidance. We will do this by working closely with our students and seeking their feedback along the way and being flexible with our delivery to ensure we meet individual needs.

Noise Academy will continue to:

  • Actively challenge discrimination
  • Ensure that all students, staff and volunteers are treated fairly
  • Make sure that our activities and services are truly accessible to all
  • Work collaboratively with other organisations to address inequality
  • Work to promote an organisational culture of diversity
  • Strive to ensure that the profile of staff and volunteers reflects the wider communities within which we operate.

Each module lasts for six weeks, give or take, so we ultimately have enough criteria for a young person to stay engaged for a full year and beyond!
