For pupils with extreme levels of anxiety

At Danesgate the offer is predominantly small groups. However, pupils’ needs can change and sometimes high levels of anxiety are present that prevent pupils feeling they can’t manage alongside peers for some time or even attend at all. Currently, Danesgate has some capacity to teach pupils off main site with a highly bespoke offer including some 1 to 1 tuition. This is designed to reduce anxiety, build social communication and interaction capacity and to transition to a small group over time. Generally, these pupils will have CAMHS involvement and will be considered to be struggling what is now known as emotionally based school avoidance.
