Good Morning
As we settle into the first half of this summer term I wanted to highlight a few key messages.
Danesgate Food bank:
We have a well established food bank in school for those families struggling with the cost of living crisis in the UK- we rely on notations from staff and businesses. We have seen an even greater strain on families being able to buy basic food staples; which has meant our stock are starting to run low. We are requesting that families that are in a more fortunate position kindly help with donations. Please could parents and carers who would like to donate bring food to school and drop off at reception. Any donation small or large will be very much appreciated. This can include dry and tinned foods as well as hygiene products.
Proposed McDonalds near to Danesgate:
I am sure you will have heard via social media and York Press regards the proposed application to develop the old Iceland into a McDonalds. Although I enjoy a McDonalds, I think having one in such close proximity to Danesgate will have a real negative impact on our community. Further traffic congestion, associated anti-social behaviours, increased litter and potential targeting of vulnerable young people are to highlight some of the main issues. I would like to encourage our parents/carers to add their objections via the portal link below:
As well as sign the petition:
Thank you in advance for your ongoing support
Best wishes
