Primary Provision

In Primary Provision Art is taught by an art specialist once a week.  Pupils will cover several mini  Art projects including using a mix of different mediums including 2D and 3D.  We cover:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Craft
  • Use of clay
  • Sculpture

 

Key Stage 3 Provision

In our Talk About and Steps Provision Art is taught by an art specialist twice a week. Pupils will cover several mini  Art projects including using a mix of different mediums including 2D and 3D.  We cover:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Craft
  • Use of clay
  • Sculpture
All projects are based on individual interests to encourage creativity.
 
GCSE Art and Design
At Key Stage 4 we offer GCSE Art.  Pupils are encouraged to produce between 2 and 4 projects in media and materials of their choice from a range of drawing, painting, craft, clay, sculpture, graphics and photography.
All projects are based on individual interests to encourage creativity.  Pupils are allocated 3 lessons a week.
  
Assessments
Assessment is half termly or ongoing and flexible to meet the needs of individual students.  GCSE assessment criteria includes drawing and recording from first and second hand sources, developing work, using a range of media, materials and techniques and being able to evaluate their own work and that of other artists, designers and craftspeople
 
Ways to help my child succeed

Students at GCSE  will be offered a sketchbook and a folder and are encouraged to practice their drawing skills at home.
