The School has received a letter of thanks from the chair of the Arts Society York, to say thanks for the effort staff and pupils have put in during the recent art exhibition:
As Chairman of The Arts Society York I wish to congratulate the pupils who submitted their work for the Art Exhibition at The City Of York Council Offices recently.
The work was of an exceptionally high standard and our Society is delighted to support the work of Danesgate Art Department. The children are a credit to the school and the dedicated staff who nurture their talents. In fact, people who attended the exhibition could not believe that the standard of work was produced by children of that age and thought it better than many in main stream education.
May Townsend, who is our Young and Community Arts Committee member, has got to know the children and staff well so we know how enthusiastic the students are when they are showing their work.
I have also visited the school on several occasions and at the exhibition spoke to parents who were proud and supportive of their children.
You have very special staff in Tudor, Becky, Jamie and all others involved in the Department.
Will you please thank the pupils and all involved in producing the exhibition and I hope they have fun spending their prize vouchers.
I hope to meet you on a future visit to the school.
All good wishes,
Helen Gregory
